How Long Does It Take To Beat Forspoken?

After a pre-release cycle that saw the game be mocked by virtually everyone due to its cheesy marketing, "Forspoken" is finally out for the PlayStation 5 and PC platforms. And a huge question on gamers' minds is how much content the game will pack in to keep them preoccupied.

According to people involved in the game's development, "Forspoken" was expected to be a lengthy and time-consuming experience. In an interview with 3DJuegos, "Forspoken" director Takeshi Terada talked about the game, and even went as far as to reveal its length. According to Terada, players can expect to spend at least 30-40 hours playing the game, not accounting for side activities (as translated by GameRant). Of course, 30-40 hours is a pretty solid length. Unless people absolutely no-life it, a game of that length should be able to keep you busy for days. But now that "Forspoken" is finally out for public consumption, does Terada's prediction regarding its length hold true?

Unfortunately, according to some reviewers, it might not take that long to beat the game. In fact, if these numbers are to be believed, "Forspoken" falls well short of its advertised length.

Forspoken is allegedly 30 hours, though reviewers are saying it takes much less than that

In his review of the game for Polygon, Grayson Morley said that it took him about 16 hours to complete "Forspoken," saying that the first half of the game was mostly a tutorial that dragged along before picking up at the end. Other reviewers offered similar feedback, with Ash Parish of The Verge saying that the game took about 17 hours to complete despite also participating in some side activities and open-world traversal. In his review for IGN, Tom Marks reported that the campaign was completed in roughly 15 hours. The 15-hour length was also reported by Kyle Hilliard of Game Informer, though he did mention that there was still quite a bit of side content to complete.

Of course, every gamer's pace is different, and those who attempt to do everything that "Forspoken" allows will probably get more mileage out of the game. However, judging by the reviews, it seems that Terada's initial prediction of the title taking 30-40 hours to beat the story was a bit of an exaggeration. Instead, should gamers choose to purchase "Forspoken," it seems they will likely get through the experience in under 20 hours if beating the story is their only goal.
