How To Find The Covert Cloak In Pokemon Scarlet And Violet
Giving Pokémon the right item to hold can make a big difference in how they battle. Some items are single-use, but others enhance specific elemental-type abilities or protect the holder from attacks. These work for as long as the Pokémon in the player's party continue to hold them, with some items significantly improving the Pokémon's performance in battle. There are dozens of held items in "Pokémon Scarlett" and "Violet," seven of which are new to Gen 9. They all have unique abilities that can be useful in one way or another, but one of the more potent items the new games have included is the Covert Cloak, which has some critical defensive capabilities.
The Covert Cloak protects the Pokémon holding it from any added effects they might be afflicted with due to an enemy Pokémon's attack. It doesn't protect from pure status-affliction moves like Hypnosis or Poison Powder, but it prevents various attacks' secondary effects. For example, a Pokémon holding the Covert Cloak wouldn't flinch after being hit with Bite and wouldn't get the Burn status effect after being hit with Flamethrower. Several gym leaders and other enemies focus on using moves like this, such as how the streamer gym leader Iono likes to inflict Paralysis.
The Covert Cloak could prove incredibly useful in these situations. Here's how to get it.
Buy it at the Delibird Presents in Levincia
The good news for gamers is that the Covert Cloak isn't very hard to find at all. Players just need to make sure that they have enough cash. The cloak can be purchased at the Delibird Presents in Levincia, on the coast of the map's eastern side in Area 2. While "Pokémon Scarlett" and "Violet" have ensured "Pokémon" gyms will never be the same, Levincia is home to what would usually be the third gym players do battle in during the Victory Road questline (per Inverse).
The Delibird Presents is located in the center of the shopping district in town, marked on the map with an image of a shopping bag. Unfortunately, the cloak costs a staggering P20,000. Players who've already been dropping their money on pokéballs and healing potions might need to sell off some items or do a few quick trainer battles to come up with that kind of cash. However, many would still consider the transaction worthwhile, given how valuable the cloak can be throughout the rest of the game.
