SVG Asks: Do You Buy Modern Warfare 2 To Play The Campaign Or Just Multiplayer?
"Call of Duty" might as well be the sports game of shooters because of how it transitioned from a "Medal of Honor" clone to a yearly success like "FIFA," "NBA 2K," and "MLB." Still, Activision Blizzard's latest "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" (not to be confused with the 2009 version) seems like a success despite some initial backlash over cross-play options.
While the titles' competitive multiplayer offerings alongside new or returning multiplayer modes tend to be a popular point of discussion among fans, SVG wondered how much the campaign really mattered to "Call of Duty" players. The brief "Modern Warfare 2" campaign, estimated to take around 7.5 hours to beat, follows a similar pattern as past "Modern Warfare" games — but how many players are actually interested in it?
Following the launch of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," SVG asked its community of 142k subscribers to vote on whether they would play through the "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" campaign if they picked the game up. Nearly 200 users voted for one of these three choices:
- Yes, I really enjoy "Call of Duty" campaigns
- No, I only plan on playing the multiplayer
- I'm just waiting for "Warzone 2.0"
At the time of writing, a whopping 83 percent of voters said they were going to play through the campaign. In fact, based on the wording in the choice, they enjoy "Call of Duty" campaigns in general. Meanwhile, only 11 percent said they would focus on multiplayer, and the remaining seven percent said they were just waiting for "Warzone 2.0."
